Cool!
I'm also interested in these type of things but don't have an external rotary axis, yet. In the KRC2 this external axis is referred to as E1. What type of objects to you wanna mill?
CAMel the open source CAM initiative (http://maxwelldemon.com/2011/09/29/camel/) I am also working on as well as KUKA|prc could be helping you to create the toolpath as well as the src code.
Great!!
My main task is to mill large objects out of Polystyrene or Blue foam in 3D, like this:

and would need a rotary axis. Received the Kuka gear box and Servo Motor today, will soon begin designing the frame for it.
I myself used to split up the KRL code (within my selfwritten MATLAB postprocessor) for various robotic drawing experiments like these:

into several src subprograms. The KRC2 controller would only accept 20K lines or so within one src file. Note the g-code here came from a "classical" CAD/CAM software and not from Rhino + GH, yet. It shouldn't be much of an issue to implement something suitable within KUKA|prc.
Hello RobotsinArchitecture,
There are quite a few things need to be done for older robots such as lack of memory when executing larger files. I read some thread from Robot forum some user would split up the files in to 10 or 20, what ever the controller/KRC1 can take to run a file. Some software can do this without splitting something called HMI buffer. I'm hopping that GH+Kuka|PRC could run KRC1 robots, I can provide a sample file in KRC1 format so that you clever software people can come up with a result, in order for me to send please PM me, and I'll send the file.
Hi Freddy-just recently we have been running KUKA|prc with a KR150 bougth by some artists about 9 years old. The Plug-In and code capability was fine and doing a great job for them. But with older robots/ control units you have to be careful not to run into difficulties with the available virtual memory..... but yes, give it a try... looking forward to your feedback!
About KUKA|prc tutorials- we will post some more tutorials soon!
You can meet us at shapetofabrication (organized by Paul and Greg)http://www.shapetofabrication.com/conference next week in London or at Euromold in Frankfurt- for anyone interested
@H great that you still have fun with KUKA|prc after the workshop!
2000
Is a KR200 KRC1, can't remember what year, should be around 1996~2000.
Will have look for the file, it is stored somewhere in my NAS.
Is there a tutorial for GH + Kuka|PRC?. and also does it support up to 8 axis?
Nice. Indeed, the syntax of KRC1 and KRC2 might not differ too much. If you send some sample KRC1 src files you used for your robot I can check and let you know what is different. I think you can attach files to comments in this forum. Also, which robot model do you use?
I'm not sure the diffrence between KRC1 & KRC2 code, as I do not have KRC2 but I think it should able to run KRC1, is only matter of syntax conversion, my guess.
Below is my KRC1 Milling with Delcam Robot interface, still deciding whether to buy or not,
