The AA School of Architecture will go to Colombia to offer a 9 day international design workshop titled 'Up the River, Up the Mountain'. Parametric design and digital prototyping techniques will be used to address Bogotá's troubled relation with its natural boundaries. Simultaneous work at city and micro scales, will generate strategies to address current Latin American urban challenges.
http://bogota.aaschool.ac.uk/The workshop will be organised in two studios, each focusing on one scale: scripted systems of organisation at the urban scale will define locations for speculative, small spaces; samples of these will explore complex geometries and will be digitally prototyped at 1:2. Developed as a collective effort through parametric design techniques, the play between scales will allow participants to find specific urban performances, and will demonstrate the necessity of using complex systems of organisation to address today’s urban questions.
