By using an industrial robot as an assembly assistant, simple, regularly shaped objects can be accurately placed at any desired location. In effect, by encoding the geometric specificity in the assembly process instead of the building elements, elaborate timber structures can be fabricated out of standard and widely available building materials.

PROJECT TEAM
ICD Institute for Computational Design – Prof. Achim Menges
Abel Groenewolt, Oliver David Krieg, with Jian Ming Huang

Workshop Participants
Shi Xinyu, Li Yutong, Gu Xiaolin, Hu Jialiang, Zheng Xin, Liu Yang, Zhang Shiqi, He Yiwen, Liu Jingrui, Wu Chaoran, Du Jie

Organized and Supported by
DADA 2015 International Conference and Exhibition
CAUP Tongji University, Shanghai
ArchiUnion, Shanghai – Prof. Philip F. This highly flexible surface – a sandwich wood and high-tech mesh – was created by a process of excavation with a CNC cutting machine. By dividing the rigid plan of wood into small triangle, the material is freed - able to be shaped as the maker desires. This approach renders a wooden surface malleable, not just for decorative purposes, but also as solid and functional covering system for interiors and design.
This material hold an endless potential to absorb ideas and possibilities that reflect the dynamics of the space they occupy. Recognizing this potential allows to re-conceive and re-build spaces inspired by the malleability of this elegant, durable and strong material.

PATENT PENDING Router Workshop 101 with Jim Heavy tag:rhinofablab.com,2012-01-17:4439072:Video:74146 2012-01-17T19:51:07.253Z RhinoFabLab https://rhinofablab.com/profile/RhinoFabLab

Jim Heavey from Wood Magazine discusses routers and bits.

You would love this video and learn many things from it!

Jim Heavey from Wood Magazine discusses routers and bits.

You would love this video and learn many things from it!
