SUMMARY:Material Intelligence Design & Prototyping Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Material Intelligence is a one-week intensive design and p
 rototyping workshop to be held in New York City during the week of Aug
 ust 16-20.\n\nOver the course of five days participants will examine t
 he cultural as well as technological domains of associative practices 
 within architecture and its related fields. Participants will develop 
 projects through iterative workflows with an emphasis placed on materi
 al prototyping as a vehicle for design innovation. The workshop will b
 e conducted in a fast-paced and hands-on studio environment where part
 icipants will have access to digital fabrication equipment including a
 n industrial CNC 3-axis Mill and CNC High-Force Cutter.\n\nThe format 
 of the workshop includes daily instructional, design, and fabrication 
 sessions in addition to lunch time and evening lectures by leading pra
 ctitioners in the field. The primary CAD platform will be Grasshopper 
 for Rhino3D, supported by a suite of associated programs including Rhi
 noCam, RhinoNest, and Brazil Render. The workshop will culminate in a 
 public exhibition and opening reception on the evening of Saturday, Au
 gust 21.\n\nThe Material Intelligence workshop was conceived through a
  collaboration between Studio Mode/modeLab and Tietz-Baccon. The instr
 uctors include Ronnie Parsons + Gil Akos of Studio Mode and Erik Tietz
  + Andrew Baccon of Tietz-Baccon. Collectively the group of instructor
 s have taught design studios, seminars, and workshops throughout North
  America and Europe in both academic as well as professional settings.
