SUMMARY:Digital Fabrication with Furniture Making
DESCRIPTION:The two-day class is an introduction into Digital Fabricat
 ion using furniture making as an example. Exploring a classic chair de
 sign as part of the curriculum the workshop will cover the steps of pr
 ecision modeling for fabrication, nesting for CNC cutting, and techniq
 ues of cutting chair parts out using custom jigs. The software used wi
 ll be Rhino, RhinoCAM, Partworks, and ShopBot Control Software.\nThe c
 ourse is geared towards people who want to learn more about Digital Fa
 brication Processes from design to production. Using the classic chair
  design as an example that covers a multitude of processes in digital 
 fabrication each participant will learn the key steps about using digi
 tal fabrication to create highly complex parts in short runs. With di
 gital fabrication tools becoming affordable to everyday hobbyists the 
 world of construction and fabrication both on a personal and professio
 nal level is changing. This workshop is intended to introduce the part
 icipants to all of the stages of digital processes and hopefully inspi
 re people to further pursue what is possible with digital tools.\nDay

 classic chair design\nModeling for Milling – curves, surfaces, and c
 omplex surfaces\nTaking the 3D model to 2D for nesting\nProperly nesti
 ng all the parts\nExporting toolpaths\n\nDay 2: Machine set up, jiggin
 g and cutting\n\nSet up Machines\nSet up Jigs\nCutting each part\nFini
 shing and post processing with CNC\n\nPre-requisites: Basic knowledge
  of Rhino (enough to create basic 2D line drawings and simple 3D objec
