SUMMARY:AA Istanbul Visiting School 2011
DESCRIPTION:In spring 2011, the AA will hold its first Istanbul Global
  School in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University. This 10 d
 ay long intensive team-based workshop, taught by recent AA graduates/ 
 AA staff, will explore tall structures through vertical growth algorit
 hms by focusing on local crafts.\nInvited lecturers include Patrik Sch
 umacher (Partner/ Zaha Hadid Architects), and Michael Weinstock (Direc
 tor, AA Emtech Programme).\nThe parametric toolset for the studios wil
 l be Rhino, Grasshopper, scripting within Grasshopper using VB.net, an
 d Processing. The exploration of diverse parametric platforms and thei
 r associated outcomes will enable the participants to grasp the discre
 te approaches taken towards parametric design. The students are expect
 ed to organize themselves into teams of 3-4 people. After a brief comm
 on module that introduces students to Rhino, Grasshopper, Processing, 
 and a scripting crash course, the studio will be split into units, foc
 using on the same objectives with different briefs.\nThe deadline for 
 applications is 18 March 2011. A late deadline of 1 April 2011 is also
  in effect, but this will incur a £50 surcharge. Application forms an
