Addresses of RET is loaded from the stack. RETI is used to return from an interrupt service routine. It first enables interrupts of equal and lower priorities to the interrupt that is terminating. Program execution continues at the address that is calculated by the topmost two bytes off the stack. The most-significant-byte is popped off the • Data: an instruction depends on a prior instruction (to produce its result) still in execution E.g., lw followed by an add instruction using the loaded value • Control: can't decide if this instruction should be executed due to a prior branch instruction in execution CS/CoE1541: Intro. to Computer Architecture University of Pittsburgh 22 02․ When RET instruction is executed by any subroutine then the top of the stack will be popped out and assigned to the PC. without any operation, the calling program would resume from instruction immediately following the call instruction. the PC will be incremented after the execution of the instruction.
